A key business issue for us is to discover how to get more done in less time; to work smarter. Working longer hours is too often the norm for many of us in trying to achieve our goals. Less can be more - if only we can find the key to the processes that apply to us. But beware, working smarter does not necessarily mean working for less time. A certain prime minister routinely worked into the early hours because it suited her to do so; or was it because this was the only time available to her?
ToolKit™ users have the chance to work smarter by using some of the best tools available to them anywhere. Our compliance software has been developed to meet the needs of managers and users striving to cope with the intricacies of the HSE's CDM and Asbestos Management legislation. The rising cost of the compliance management process, particularly the CDM process, means that even mediocre cost savings per individual will have an amplified effect on the bottom line. That is why a properly installed ToolKit database is now of such significant value and capable of providing a dramatic payback over say a 5 year period.
Working Smarter is part of our philosophy at Ai Solutions and we strive to provide that energy and enthusiasm within our major accounts and through our training courses. Our aim is to ensure that all our users receive the appropriate training and seminar support to allow them to get a return on their investment in a timely manner.
Our Major Account Review Meeting (MARM) kindly hosted by TFL, was a very successful event. It included senior representatives from a number of Councils as well as EDF Energy. Bradford MDC are about to enter a new phase with their Electronic Health & Safety File by making it available to their several hundred school managers online and for the first time. Trevor Olsson updated us on how this is going to proceed; an exciting phase of the ToolKit™ development for Bradford.
The opportunities for joined up working were discussed once more and TFL expressed their desire to have a joint meeting with all the London Boroughs to discuss how they might communicate and coordinate more effectively on the CDM process. One of the major objectives of the MARM meeting is to give the opportunity for users to feed back their thoughts on enhancements and ongoing developments to the software. A number of ideas were put to Theo Gray our Director of Development and these will be taken into account during our development planning process.
Regular readers of these pages will already know about our recent announcements concerning our Hosted Solutions. Feedback from a recent seminar indicates that we provide insufficient emphasis on one aspect of our solution; the immediacy of updates by editors to the online database.
We regularly talk about two groups of users; the 'editors' and the 'readers'. The editors assemble, collate and manage the database that sits behind the CDM or Asbestos management suite. They generally 'own' the database. 'Readers' are normally web based users who access the database via a login and have pre-defined access rights set up by the editors; normally by the administrator (a super-editor).
Typically there will be a handful of ToolKit CS™ editors and several hundred readers. All changes made by the editors including publication of documents made available by individual readers can be made available online immediately. All the editors need to do, is to make an individual document available online. From that moment on, the entire reader group who have permission to do so can access that document; immediately.
And of course, every action that takes place in the database is audited automatically. This ensures that those who need to, can find out who did or didn't do what, when and how.
We regularly receive updates from our customers and contacts about changes to legislation, the latest rumours and so on. We try to be selective with what we pass on and acknowledge our sources as appropriate. If you have information of general interest in the Health & Safety, and particularly, CDM and Asbestos Management arena, then please let us know by e-mail if possible.
