Troubleshooting

Connecting to ToolKit CS

Regardless of operating system or device, if you are having problems connecting to ToolKit CS, the following step should be tried first

  1. If you are not being prompted to enter your password, please try running the following utility and removing any credentials listed:
  2. Check that the following can be opened without error:
    1. https://www.microsoft.com/
This checks that the user has access to the internet and that DNS is functioning.
    2. https://www.aisolutions.co.uk/
This checks that valid Root Certificates are installed.

Windows 7

Microsoft support for Windows 7 ended on 14 January 2020 and no further updates will be available for any future features we may add to the hosted solution. We recommend that Windows 7 users upgrade to Windows 10 or 11 depending on the capabilities of their devices.

  1. The following updates (or more recent compatible versions) need to be installed
    1. Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    2. KB2574819 - Add support for DTLS to Windows 7 SP1
    3. KB2592687 - Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 8.0 update for Windows 7
    4. .Net Framework (v4.6 or higher)

High Resolution screens

If you have a high-resolution screen such as a Macbook or other modern laptop, your screen settings can mean that ToolKit CS displays with very small text.

Mac OSX

Please ensure that you are running the latest version of the OSX Remote Desktop Connection app (see above for link).

For high-resolution Mac screens still having this issue on the latest version of the app, see the Display tab within the Edit screen for the Remote Desktop connection where you can set the Resolution for the server (rather than the default which is to match your current screen). If you don't know which resolution to use, try 1280x1024 as a starting point and then change it gradually up or down depending on how easy the text becomes to read.
