During the recent Ecobuild we sat in on the conference regarding sustainable development where we gained greater understanding about Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's). The SDG's laid out are 17 goals to transform the world which came about when, in 2015, leaders from 193 countries of the world came together to face the future. Some of these goals seem very ambitious, however it is hoped that if we work together with these common goals in sight, we can improve the world we live in now, and more importantly, in the future for our children and our children's children. So what are the SDG's?

The HSE have published a report in conjunction with researchers for the Health and Safety Laboratory and with input from the BIM 4 Health and Safety Workgroup which details how digital engineering could make a difference to Health and Safety.

For those of you who would like further help with the hazards of lead within the construction industry the HSE have published an Approved Code of Practice, L132. This document has accompanying guidance which is aligned to the regulations. As we all know Lead has been a major hazard for some time now however it is one danger that is far too often ignored on our construction sites. With many refurbishments being carried out on older premises, the risk to workers is quite high.
