As we approach the half year, many of us are wondering just how bad 2009 is going to be.
Good news is thin on the ground. New major projects in the UK with a 2009 start date continue to be a novelty; there have been very, very few new starts according to our feedback from clients. Local authorities are shedding staff. Interest rates continue to bump along the bottom.
HSE report 1 in 5 construction sites are failing health & safety checks. The constant cry is to save costs. The HSE is about to announce their new strategy to improve safety. Where will these two requirements join up I wonder. Because, for many organisations living on survival rations, the moral dilemma continues to be whether to save cost or improve safety. Few see 'investment' as a solution to both. But there are a few wise investors out there; welcome!
We have just announced a new promotion to facilitate joined up working for CDM & Asbestos. Initially aimed at clients in London, the promotion has a nationwide appeal and we are keen to attract users from across the whole of the UK. Joined Up Working continues to be of keen interest to Councils, Utilities, Contractors and Construction Consultants. It continues to be of interest because there are large amounts of cash to be saved by embracing the idea of working together in an organised way.
Our CDM & Asbestos Management software is available over the Internet on a subscription basis for the first time. We are using a managed, hosted portal to give a very low cost route to sharing data across all the London Boroughs and associated suppliers. The Joined Up Working solution uses software proven over some 15 years. Our experience has been developed into best practice with our major clients. The portfolio for our management software includes Transport for London, London Borough of Hounslow, City of Westminster, a number of other London Boroughs, EDF Energy etc. We help our users manage the CDM and asbestos regulations as laid out in the HSE's guidance.
We have now solved 3 key issues for our users;
1) Providing a means of sharing information between departments and other organisations; facilitating joined up working.
2) Overcoming the IT restrictions imposed on our users, principally by their outsourced IT departments.
3) Supplying a low cost, effective solution; subscription based, utilising secure internet technology.
The key benefits of the CDM & Asbestos Portal are:
1) The CDM & Asbestos packages are fully managed and allow users to set permissions on all their information so that it may or may not be shared.
2) Our ToolKit Compliance software is available through an internet portal, external to the IT department.
3) The packages are available for £4,995 per application per year for a 1 concurrent user license on a 3 year term agreement; there are other price / users / term combinations available on request.
The package will be available for the first 10 organisations that take up the offer before 30 Jun 09 at £2,995 for the first concurrent user. This is a really low introductory price and delivers rather more than the statutory requirements of the regulations as our clients have grown used to expect of us. Terms and conditions apply. VAT is payable in addition to the prices shown here.
Our next Major Account Review Meeting is on Tuesday 9th Jun 09 at 10:00 - 14:30. The meeting will take place at our Leighton Buzzard offices. To date we have about a dozen organisations represented so this should be a really useful session for all concerned. If you would like to come but are not yet on the attendee list, please call us as soon as possible.
Agenda:
