We held our second award ceremony for the 2009 Excellent Practitioner Awards at Bradford in November. Trevor Olsson received the award for his outstanding work in CDM management within Bradford Metropolitan District Council. Trevor has worked hard for several years to achieve a resilient CDM system that now fulfils the CDM needs of the entire Council; a notable achievement.
The award was well stage managed with the entire management team in attendance with the in-house magazine photographer and endless banter! A delightful occasion.
Many of you will know that the HSE has a new initiiative: Asbestos the hidden killer. This is another attempt to make more people aware of the dangers of Asbestos. In particular this campain is aimed at helping tradesmen and maintenance workers know when they might be working with asbestos.
What do you know about Asbestos? Well it can be anywhere; in particular any building built or refurbished before asbestos was banned as a building material at the end of 1999 could contain asbestos in many forms. Some types of asbestos are too dangerous for you to work with and can only be dealt with by licensed contractors - how are you managing your estate in regard to asbestos?
Why not try the on-line quiz to see what you know about asbestos, in addition there are some helpful leaflets you can download to pass round to your workers.
Three wise men unwisely had a driving experience at Silverstone in November, on the wettest day and month of the year so far.
Not put off by delays due to weather and whether there would be enough cars left to race as crashes mounted and puddles grew.
Risk assessments revisited, the intrepid trio fiercely contested for top dog in what was a cat and mouse chase with Simon taking the honour from Theo and Nick for the instructor's highest achievement award.
A Ferrari good day out was had by all.
With only a few working days to go until the much heralded VAT increase on 1 January, consultants need to be quick on their feet if they want to be billed at the 2009 rate. Our hosted rates are currently very affordable so if you are interested please get in touch soon.
Our 2010 Business Plan is taking shape with some exciting developments for all our users for next year. But it is too early to go to press on these just yet; yule just have to wait ...
... Anyway, we are very proud to have got through what we sincerely hope is the worst of the recession and would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers and supporters a very Happy Christmas and successful New Year.
Thank you from all of us here at Ai Solutions Ltd.
We are delighted to continue our support of an outstanding Christmas Puzzle organised locally to raise money for charities around the country.
This year's puzzle (the nineteenth) will be available to download from the Christmas Puzzle website on 8th December.
So far, the puzzle has raised almost £32,000 for various good causes, including at least £3,000 in each of the last five years. The puzzle should appeal to people who enjoy solving (former) broadsheet crossword puzzles. You have plenty of time to work on it so don't expect every answer to be obvious; however, unlike many puzzles that come out around this time of year, this one is designed to help you finish!
We have been long term supporters of Bletchley Park as many of our customers will remember. We have held several seminar events there for instance. This year they have been in the news again with some long overdue funding. They have been able to fix the roof at last. Visitor numbers is one of their main measures of success so their latest innovation is particularly apt;
A Christmas Gift box with Bletchley Park Season Tickets, Official Secrets of Bletchley Park Guide, Information Leaflet and Presentation Case.
Please visit their site for details: Bletchley Park Gift Shop
We regularly receive updates from our customers and contacts about changes to legislation, the latest rumours and so on. We try to be selective with what we pass on and acknowledge our sources as appropriate. If you have information of general interest in the Health & Safety, and particularly, CDM and Asbestos Management arena, then please let us know by e-mail if possible.
