The construction industry accident statistics for last year are likely to reach double figures; the 9 months to last December included 90 deaths, which are currently running at 2 per week. Against this background, John Prescott, Michael Meacher and Lord Whitty have called a 'Construction Summit' for the end of February to try to grab the attention of the construction industry to reduce accidents - and quickly.
In addition, HSE are targeting small to medium sized enterprises with 'inspection' visits to ascertain what management systems they are currently using to monitor their health & safety activities and what audit trail systems they have in place. Stephen Taylor is a Principal Inspector involved in this program and is well aware of the CDM ToolKit™ and the how it can help construction businesses large and small. He is very keen on our approach, which both manages and audits health & safety activity for every project either in-house or on the Internet. Stephen has agreed to attend our next CDM Seminar to make a presentation on 'the fall-out' from the 'Construction Summit' and his findings on the first phase of the SME inspection program.
Following the many successes of our CDM ToolKit™ User Forum over the past 6 years, we have decided to change the format this year so that any one interested in CDM can attend, including our cdmUK users. Renamed the CDM Seminar, it will take place on 5th April 2001. We have some outstanding speakers lined up for the following agenda;
We are taking forward bookings for the CDM Seminar now; anyone can attend. £80 plus VAT includes a buffet lunch, and an early payment discount. Ai Solutions customers qualify for a further discount. Please contact us (preferably by e-mail: info@aisolutions.co.uk) and we will make the necessary arrangements.
We have rewritten our Ai Solutions company site and incorporated a number of updates; we hope you like the new look. You may like to note that each of the following addresses will point you to our site:
Please let us know what you think of our makeover!
We have modified the cdmUK.com site too. There are many changes which we hope will help you; please take a moment to review them. We have a new and much simplified Tariff. You can rent space in our CDM ToolKit™ Online project management module from £25 per month with unlimited access and as many users as you like. Bigger projects requiring more storage can be accommodated; £100 per month should secure enough space for all but the bigger projects.
The significant changes that have been introduced should make project management using the Internet much easier and much more affordable. Clients can now predict what their project costs are going to be based on the project length and budget accordingly. We hope the development work, which is now complete, and our new tariffs will provide an influx of new projects to move cdmuk forward quickly. Please help us achieve this by getting your project online soon!
