Competence of Surveyors

If you decide to commission a surveyor, then you need to be sure that the person or organisation involved is competent and can provide you with the following information;

  • Evidence of their training and experience in surveying work appropriate to your building
  • Assurance that they will comply with the HSE's HSG264 guidance which includes;
    1. Being an accredited asbestos surveyor and or remover
    2. Being able to demonstrate independence, impartiality and integrity.
  • Having an adequate quality assurance procedure. Guidelines for such procedures are set out by the UKAS and BOHS
  • Evidence of their liability insurance
