Introduction
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) have largely replaced the Abrasive Wheels Regulations 1970. The exceptions to this are Regulations 2, 3 and 9. Regulations 2 & 3 define what constitutes an abrasive wheel and where the regulations apply. Regulation 9 covers the appointment and training of the 'appointed person' who is the only one allowed to mount abrasive wheels.
Such wheels should be regularly inspected and the inspection results recorded on the Abrasive Wheels Inspection Record form.
