Building Safety Act

The Building Safety Act makes provision about the safety of people in or about buildings and the standard of buildings, to amend the Architects Act 1997, and to amend provision about complaints made to a housing ombudsman.

The Building Safety Act introduces the Gateway approach for High-Risk Buildings. There will be no choice of Building Control provider and all building works, new build, extension, refurbishments are subject to the control of the Building Safety Regulator and the Gateway Approach.

The Building Safety Act gained Royal Assent on 28 April 2022 and the changes came into force on 1st October 2023.
