Regulation 35 refers to the emergency procedures. The relevant contractor must ensure that:-

  • in the event of danger it is possible for workers to evacuate all work areas of the construction site quickly and safely
  • emergency exits and emergency routes are signposted, and emergency plans are displayed, at appropriate locations on the construction site
  • arrangements are in place for rescuing any injured persons from the construction site
  • where indicated by the risk assessment that relates to the construction work, emergency evacuation procedures are practised at regular intervals and any difficulties identified and resolved

All parties working on site should be made aware of the procedures and be reminded of them on a regular basis. This information can be documented in the construction phase plan.
