Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (Amendment) Regulations 2003

The COSHH Regulations of 2002 have been updated and include two main changes which relate to specific substances.
Users of category 1 or 2 mutagens (substances that may cause genetic damage) must now apply the same control measures required for carcinogens. In the UK this change only affects users of triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC) because it is the only mutagen that is not already classified as a carcinogen.
The second change involves the clarification of the status of 17 dioxins which are now explicitly classified as carcinogens. This is a result of increasing concern over the health effects of exposure to these substances, with the intention of improving the control of occupational exposure to dioxins.
