Confined Spaces Regulations 1997

These Regulations came into force January 1998.
Under these Regulations work may only be carried out in confined spaces if there is a safe system of work in place and it is not reasonably practical to do the work in any other way ie confined spaces should be designed out at the planning stage. There must be emergency arrangements in place for immediate rescue including if necessary the provision and maintenance of resuscitation equipment.
