Tree Preservation Orders

From a general safety point of view any Tree Preservation Orders should be identified and safety zones defined. Consider that tree damage can result from heavy plant running over the root system as well as from direct contact. Therefore it is important to make Safety Zones extensive enough.

Felling Operations

Trees to be felled must be identified. Any possible danger relating to felling operations such as adjacent buildings or overhead cables must be identified. Clearance areas for felling operations should be clearly defined. Dangers to felling operatives must be anticipated especially where chain saws are to be used. There is an obvious hazard from the saw itself but consideration should be given to risks to eyes, hearing and from the vibrating tool.
