The Construction Head Protection Regulations 1989 came into force on 30th March 1990.
These Regulations have no specifically related EC Directive.

These Regulations only apply to construction sites, and require that head protection is supplied by the employer or self-employed person. Persons shall wear the head protection unless there is no foreseeable risk of head injury, except for the person falling over. The person in control of the site (principal contractor or contractor) must make rules for the wearing of head protection, in writing, and ensure that they are complied with. The Regulations also place duties on employees to wear the head protection correctly when instructed to do so.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has granted an exemption to the wearing of head protection by Sikhs, who for reasons of religion wear a turban.
