Introduction
Specified Mechanical and Electrical Plant to be installed within the project will normally be manufactured off site and delivered to site for assembly and installation. The hazards associated with mechanical and electrical equipment will be those arising from the handling operations and assembly and installation process rather than from equipment itself.
In specifying a particular piece of equipment a designer must be satisfied that the equipment specified is safe and suitable for the task required of it.
Consideration must be given to the means of access for installation and access for future maintenance repair and replacement.
Identify:
The Pre-construction Information should identify the hazards associated with the assembly, installation and commissioning of specialist mechanical and electrical equipment.
The Health and Safety File should identify, usually by means of O&M Manuals, safe means of operating and maintaining all mechanical and electrical installations within the project.
