 Delivery of H&S File

Created 23 Sep 2004, 16:45 by Ai Solutions in the CDM forum.

I am chasing up file info for a 3.7m square pyramid rooflight, particularly maintenance info. However it has been suggested that the file should be delivered to site, either with a note to say this info will follow, or that I make notes on the fabrication drawing listing the requirements.I am not happy with either suggestion and would like to wait for the info to come from the manufacturer. What are your thoughts? The Regs do not state a time limit set for delivery of files to site, but what in your opinion would be reasonable?

The question above was originally posed via our Ask A Guru feature and this response from 2004 was by either Dave Carr or Michael Stokes.

The H&S File should not be delayed because perhaps some 'minor' information is not yet available; more serious hazardous situations could arise for those maintaining the facility during the interim when the File is not available. In these circumstances, I would suggest that the file be issued with a note explaining that certain information is still to be added. At least the Planning Supervisor will be seen as taking a responsible approach. If 'temporary' / preliminary information could be included, this would be positive.

As regards timing of its issue, the Regulations do not specify a period but unless the contract states otherwise, a period of 3 or 4 weeks would not be unreasonable.
