Project Notification

CDM ToolKit CS™ provides an automated process that puts together a Form 10 that is acceptable to the HSE. In addition to this the ToolKit CS™ Notification of Project Form 10 is audited and version controlled within the product.

HSE provide an online Notification of Project Form 10 which is available at https://www.hse.gov.uk/forms/notification/f10.htm.

Who should Notify the HSE

The Principal Designer has the responsibility for making sure that the HSE is notified that a notifiable project is taking place. See also 'Site Notice'.

Circumstances under which you should notify the HSE

A project is notifiable if the construction work on a construction site is scheduled to–

  1. last longer than 30 working days and have more than 20 workers working simultaneously at any point in the project; or
  2. exceed 500 person days.

Where a project is notifiable, the client must give notice in writing to the Executive as soon as is practicable before the construction phase begins.

The fact that the project is not notifiable does not mean that the project does not otherwise come under the CDM regulations.

How to Notify the HSE

The HSE have a special form - The Form 10 (Revised) - for notifying them about CDM projects. The form is available and can be filled in and submitted via the HSE website. Notification can also be sent by email to the HSE Head Office in Bootle.

The Form 10 does not have to be used as long as all the information required by Schedule 1 of the CDM Regulations is supplied to the HSE.

CDM ToolKit CS™ generates the form automatically from the user's project data, allows the form to be printed, e-mailed and saved so that different versions can be saved against an audit trail.
