Working Together To Manage Risk
An interesting video is available on the HSE web site showing Judith Hackitt introducing the 'Healthy Workplaces Campaign'. This initiative is also supported by the TUC, EEF and IOSH among others. The main thread of the campaign is 'Working Together'. At Ai Solutions we believe that working together collaboratively is the best way to manage risk.
Whether the risk is on a construction site or through working with Asbestos we can control the risk by having structure in place. This can only come from the senior management team. Along with this you need worker involvement. A good example of this working well has been the construction and delivery of the Olympics. We need to build on this example and use the lessons learnt to promote good practice in our own organisations.
The video is an Introduction to the Healthy Workplaces Campaign, and if you would like to know more about this initiative visit www.hse.gov.uk/campaigns/european/
Red Tape Versus Green Savings
Some of our readers will be aware that the Government's Red Tape Challenge has recommended the scrapping of the Site Waste Management Plan regulations. They will now be the subject of a Public Consultation, so we all get the opportunity to voice our opinions.
Many believe this would be a backward step for the industry and its impact on the environment. If you agree with this train of thought then please join in and use this link to sign the e-petition: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/33478
There is a summary document for further information available explaining why this would be a retrograde step: Stop the scrapping of Site Waste Management Plans (PDF)
