April 2026

We start April off with brighter days, and the evenings are gradually staying lighter for longer. Hopefully, you all enjoyed some well deserved rest over the Easter weekend. The sunnier days ahead bring the promise of vitamin D, which is essential for our overall well-being.

As some of you may know, today is World Health Day, which is all about raising awareness of critical health issues. As the saying goes “healthy body healthy mind”, which is crucial for ensuring health and safety is adhered to within the workplace.

As it is April, we can also look forward to the update from the HSE regarding CDM2015. Whatever the outcome, Ai Solutions will support our customers throughout these testing times, making CDM Compliance easily attainable. With CDM Toolkit Cloud we can provide reassurance when you have multiple CDM projects to manage. We take visibility of CDM projects seriously; knowing what you have that is non-compliant is essential for pro-active CDM management. With that, and the capacity to ‘notify’ those responsible for CDM Management, we can support you through your CDM duties, with 1-click submission of the F10 to the HSE ensuring you continue to be ‘CDM Compliant’ throughout the project life cycle.

As we all know, CDM Project information needs to be reliable, relevant and ‘real time’ otherwise it is just ‘old news’. If you would like to hear more on how we can help you please email a member of the team at [email protected] and book your FREE, live demonstration.

Health and Safety News

Draft Fire Safety Guidance

The government have proposed amendments to Approved Document B (ADB) that would encourage all buildings to allow the evacuation of disabled people without relying on firefighters. You can read more on this in Construction News.

Cost of Fuel Crisis In Construction

According to the Construction Enquirer, the escalating tensions in the Middle East are now feeding directly into construction costs, with surging fuel and energy prices seen as the biggest threat to already fragile project margins. For more on this story visit Construction Enquirer.

Green-Tech Drive in Housing

We read in the BBC news that developers will be required to install Solar Panels and heat pumps in all new homes in England as part of updated planning requirements published by the government. Along with this, plug-in-panels, that current homeowners can self-install on balconies, will be available in supermarkets in the coming months. Visit BBC News for more information.

The Multi-Generational Workforce Reality

We read a very interesting article in the Facilities Management Journal regarding the loss of labour force. Albert Hulbert (Chair of IWFM) states that within the next five years more people are expected to leave the labour force than enter it. This will have a huge impact for many businesses in the UK. Due to the age demographic our population is changing and, by 2050, one in four people are predicted to be over 65 (in the UK). For more on this visit FMJ/Multi-Generational Workforce.

Safety Campaign for Ladder Fatalities UK

We see in HIS (Health and Safety International) that a new nationwide initiative has been introduced. Werner, who are a ladder and access equipment manufacturer, have stated that their new safety scheme aims to reduce risk and promote safer working at height practices and address the primary cause of UK workplace deaths.

Affordable Homes In Stockport

Stockport County and Stonebond (a UK Based Housebuilder) have submitted proposals for 126 homes on former playing fields on Grove Lane in Cheadle Hulme, the first phase of a wider 350-home scheme. According to North West Place the development would be constructed on the former Hulme Hall Playing Fields and would feature a mix of two-, three-, and four-bed affordable homes, which will be operated by Great Places. The homes would be targeted at first-time buyers and local families, and the scheme is about giving back to the local community.
