Health & Safety Seminar

10:00 – 14:00, Tuesday 1st March 2005

Plans for our seminar at the Royal Air Force Club in Piccadilly, London on the 1st of March are progressing well. This is an impressive venue, usually limited to club members only, which includes an interesting collection of military artifacts and paintings and recently refurbished ‘public’ rooms. We are hoping to provide a short guided tour in the early afternoon for those who are interested in having a look round.

The agenda, Managing Change in Health & Safety Practice, addresses issues for anyone concerned with compliance to Health & Safety Law. In particular, we will be addressing the CDM Regulations, the Asbestos Management (CAW 2002) Regulations, Risk Assessment and the new working at height regulations. We will be supported by our new business partners David Carr, Managing Director of Callsafe Services and James Steggles, Managing Director of Flint Environmental Services with presentations about the progress and implementation of current health & safety legislation.

  A review of health & safety insurance issues. Ewan provided an informed presentation at our last seminar and has agreed to re-address the issues surrounding the provision of Professional Indemnity Insurance for health & safety practitioners and asbestos surveyors.
• New Working at Height Regulations

  David will be reviewing the new Working at Height Regulations and indicating how the CDM implications with particular reference to Designers and Contractors. We have asked David to mention the latest proposals and timescales for the proposed changes to the CDM Regulations as promulgated by Stephen Wright HSE.

  James Steggles, Managing Director, Flint Environmental Services Ltd
  The asbestos surveyor’s perspective to providing compliance to health & safety legislation is an interesting one. James will provide a case study on how the health & safety processes work in the field and how data is assembled to meet the Client’s requirements for asbestos registers, floor plans and management plans.

CDM Regulations Update

Stephen Wright, HSE Head of Construction Policy - Legislation has recently updated us about the proposed changes to the CDM Regulations. We have the latest news on our website plus Stephen’s slides from a recent seminar he gave to IOSH members.

A key benefit for our CDM customers is that we are in alignment with the latest events on the revised CDM regulations and that when new legislation comes into operation our software will be adapted accordingly. Customers will remember that when the last CDM ACOP was issued we had the changes in our knowledge base even before the new ACOP booklet was available.
