Contractor Health and Safety Assessment Scheme
Over the years local authority health and safety and procurement professionals, with the support of the Health and Safety Executive, have developed the Contractor Health and Safety assessment scheme (CHAS). The scheme is available for use by any public and private sector organizations to use when short-listing contractors, suppliers and consultants (companies) who apply to work for them. It provides information about the health and safety part of their application.
Companies apply to join the scheme so everyone knows they meet acceptable standards of health and safety compliance. Clients from both the public and private sectors are users of the scheme and the CHAS database.
Ai Solutions supports the CHAS scheme by including links to the CHAS database from ToolKit CS™.
We include routines that;
record competency both at project and organisational level
provide feedback to users through project review reporting
allows users to select businesses that are assessed to the stage 1 core criteria requirement of CDM 2007

CHAS are a member of SSIP (Safety Schemes In Procurement).

Safety Schemes In Procurement
"Where safety is at the heart of procurement"

The proliferation of health and safety pre-qualification schemes has placed an increasing burden and cost on businesses to repeatedly pre-qualify for both public and private sector work. This important Industry led initiative is strongly supported by HSE.
SSIP has been formed to act as an umbrella organisation for clients, contractors and consultants.
Accepting a Stage 1 compliant assessment undertaken by an SSIP member means clients can concentrate on the Stage 2 (project or job specific assessment) of the procurement process.
SSIP is committed to advise and influence clients, contractors and consultants about the reasonable interpretation and appropriateness of health and safety competence standards in UK schemes.
SSIP embraces the core criteria for assessing competence described in the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.
SSIP is NOT another PQ scheme, it enhances the best of what we have.
