CDM: Advice on Legal Concern

My manager was the client at the time and instructed work to go ahead. All planning, Principal contractors and designer were instructed to install a septic tank. Initially, it was declined by local authorities to connect to the main sewage system. However, when the project started, the hole was dug and was not strong enough to contain the tank, the hole was subsequently filled back in and is now after negotiation connected to the main sewage line. The company who were instructed said they would carry out the install to the main line at the same cost of what the septic was going to cost. The company has now invoiced my company and is asking for 15K more than previously quoted for labor/materials on top of the install price. My question is - is this feasible and allowed or is them trying to claim back costs even at the time it was already agreed?

CDM: Weather-Resistant Warehouse Marquee Tents: Ensuring Protection for Your Assets

In an era where flexibility and adaptability are key in business operations, warehouse marquee tents have emerged as a robust solution for storage and logistical needs. Particularly, the weather-resistant features of these structures provide unparalleled protection for your assets. In this article we look at the advantages of using weather-resistant warehouse tents and storage marquees, highlighting their importance in safeguarding goods against the often-inclement UK weather.

Durable Materials for Extreme Weather Conditions

The primary benefit of weather-resistant warehouse marquees lies in their construction. Made from high-quality, durable materials, these tents are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, including heavy rain, strong winds, and extreme temperatures. This durability ensures that your stored goods remain safe and undamaged, irrespective of the external weather conditions.

Customisable to Suit Specific Needs

Another advantage of warehouse tents is their customisable nature. Depending on the specific requirements of your storage, these marquees can be tailored in terms of size, design, and protective features. This flexibility allows businesses to create a storage solution that perfectly fits their needs, ensuring optimal protection for their assets.

Cost-Effective Alternative to Permanent Structures

Opting for a storage marquee can be a more cost-effective solution compared to constructing a permanent warehouse. These tents offer the same level of protection and functionality at a fraction of the cost. Additionally, their temporary nature means they can be easily dismantled and relocated, offering businesses greater flexibility.

Quick and Easy Installation

The ease of installation is a significant factor that makes warehouse marquees an attractive option for businesses. Unlike permanent structures that require extensive construction time, these tents can be set up quickly, ensuring that your storage needs are met without delay.

Versatility in Usage

Warehouse tents are not limited to just storage; they can be utilised for a variety of purposes, including as temporary workshops, logistics hubs, or even as retail spaces. This versatility adds to their appeal, as businesses can repurpose the tents as needed, maximising their investment.

Weather-resistant warehouse marquee tents offer a practical, flexible, and cost-effective solution for businesses looking to protect their assets. Their durability, customisability, and ease of installation make them an ideal choice for various storage and operational needs. As businesses continue to look for innovative solutions to storage challenges, weather-resistant warehouse tents and storage marquees stand out as a smart choice, offering reliable protection and versatility that many businesses can benefit from.

CDM: Employer/Designer duties

We are currently putting together a negotiated tender, as we are the sole bidder, and we have to go through the full tender process. while putting the Quality Submission together we have come across a situation that we believe can not be carried out safely or at least it will be unsafe when the site is not occupied so we asked the employer/designer how they had this activity being carried out at design stage. The response was that it is the responsibility of the principle contractor to come up with a safe system of work which we agree with if this was possible.
Q. Does anybody know the exact duties of the employer/designer in this circumstance as they are simply throwing a problem to the contractor without offering any input?
