HSE Chair made a Dame in New Years Honours

We note that Judith Hackitt, the Chair of the HSE, has been made a dame in the New Year's Honours list. The award recognises her contribution towards Health and Safety. Judith has been instrumental in steering the HSE through 'a period of significant change' and she was praised in particular for her introduction of the 'myth busters challenge'.
Judith worked in the chemicals and manufacturing industry for 25 years before being appointed in 2007 to lead the Health and Safety Commission which subsequently merged with the HSE in 2008. Her tenure as the Chair of the HSE comes to a close in March this year. Judith is surprised and feels very privileged to receive the honour and said "I am very proud of the HSE and what it does".
