We note that construction worker fatalities dropped significantly in the year end to March 2017 reaching an all-time low. This is great news. Professor Rory O'Neill, a researcher at the University of Stirling, made several Freedom of Information requests and analysed more than 20 HSE reports to map fatality statistics against a list of sectors excluded from proactive inspections. The HSE has now published the provisional data regarding fatal Injuries for the period April 2011- March 2012. The data suggests a leveling-off in the previous downward trend over the last four years. Is this down to better health and safety activity or the lessening on construction work happening at the moment? For a full review see hse.gov.uk/statistics/fatals
